ALTADENA, Los Angeles County — October 28, 2026. Homeowners rebuilding after the Eaton Fire can still get in-person help navigating permits, design plans, inspections and utility arrangements at Los Angeles County’s Altadena One-Stop Permit Center. The county’s official recovery portal lists the center at 464 W. Woodbury Road, Suite 210, Altadena, CA 91001, with a dedicated phone line of (626) 424-6743.
Walk-in hours and permit cutoff
According to LA County’s current published schedule, walk-ins are accepted Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but the last call for permits is 3 p.m. Arriving at 4 p.m. may be too late for an application that needs the day’s permit intake.
The county also lists free rebuild consultation appointments on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.. Owners can speak with county personnel about preparing plans, seeking entitlements, obtaining building permits, scheduling inspections and eventually obtaining a certificate of occupancy. Consultation is guidance, not approval of an individual plan.
Utility help is available on a different schedule
The official center page lists Southern California Gas virtual appointments Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Southern California Edison virtual planner appointments on Monday and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to noon. The separate scheduling matters for residents who need to arrange temporary construction power or utilities before moving forward.
County Public Health also publishes office hours for onsite wastewater treatment consultations and food-plan review. Residents should contact the center before assuming a specific agency representative will be physically available when they arrive.
What rebuilding homeowners should prepare
Gather the property address, available permit and assessor records, project plans and any instructions already received from county agencies. The county’s rebuilding guide explains that applications may be submitted while parts of the recovery process continue, but site clearance is required before issuance of a building permit. A like-for-like project can follow a distinct zoning review path but must still meet applicable building, fire, health and safety codes.
Which center serves Altadena?
The Woodbury Road center serves the Eaton Fire rebuilding area. The county operates separate resources for other fire-affected communities, and property owners within an incorporated city may be subject to that city’s permitting authority rather than the unincorporated county process. Check jurisdiction and current requirements before paying design or permit fees.
