ALTADENA, Los Angeles County — October 31, 2026. An insurance survey promoted on Los Angeles County’s official Eaton Fire recovery website is no longer accepting responses for its current round, according to the organization operating the questionnaire. The difference matters to fire survivors looking for a way to describe delayed claims, coverage disputes or other experiences after the January 2025 disaster.
What the two websites say
The county’s Eaton Fire recovery page displays an invitation for Eaton and Palisades fire survivors to share their experiences working with insurance companies. It links to a survey from Every Fire Survivor’s Network, a survivor-support organization.
But when California58 checked the survey organizer’s page on October 31, the message said: “This round of the survey has closed.” The page currently offers an email sign-up to be notified about results, other resources and any future surveys. It does not present an open questionnaire for this round.
What Altadena residents can still do
Survivors interested in the survey findings can visit the organization’s page and decide whether to sign up for notifications. Before providing personal or claim information to any nongovernmental organization, residents should review who is collecting it and the applicable privacy terms. A survey is not the same as an insurance claim, official complaint or request for emergency aid.
For county-run recovery information, residents can continue using LA County’s Altadena recovery guide, which links to rebuilding resources, local meetings and service contacts. The county also lists an Altadena Community Center at 730 E. Altadena Drive for in-person recovery-related assistance, with posted weekday hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Check current hours before visiting.
Why the distinction matters
Recovery pages bring together many services operated by different organizations. An invitation on one page is not proof that an outside service is accepting new applications or responses. In this case, the county’s website points to a real survey initiative, but the linked organizer says the latest collection round has ended.
